If you are deciding whether to start with official test prep or jump straight to a tutoring brand, College Board is the reference point for SAT and AP prep. It is most useful when you want the exam owner's wording, format, policies, and course expectations before spending on extra materials. Students use it to confirm what will actually be tested; families use it to compare exam paths, deadlines, and score-related decisions.
From an evaluator's view, the main question is not flashiness but exam authority. Check how well the SAT and AP materials break content into units or skills, whether guidance is clearly aimed at beginner, on-level, or score-chasing students, how much timed practice structure is provided, and whether pages are worth revisiting across a semester rather than in a single cram session. For research, policy checks, and official framing, it is hard to replace.
